Volunteers working in a meadow

Help keep Yosemite Valley beautiful!
Become a volunteer!

Join the Habitat Protectors of Yosemite (HaPY) at our weekly drop-in program! Every Friday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, we’ll be removing invasive plants, monitoring water levels, tracking conifer growth, and much more!

Learn about the park’s natural history and native vegetation from Yosemite National Park staff, and help keep Yosemite healthy and intact for native plants and animals!

MEET: In front of the Valley Visitor Center at 9 am. We’ll work from 9 am to noon.

Additional information:

  • All ages are welcome! Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Groups larger than 10 are required to pre-register (call 209/379-3286).

To find out more about the drop-in program, call 209/379-3286.

Low intensity fire in Yosemite

Did You Know?
Natural fires in Yosemite are often no more than a single burning snag (standing dead tree) or a slow moving, low intensity fire that cleans underbrush from the forest floor. These fires prevent unwanted fires by removing accumulating forest debris that can fuel a larger fire in hot, dry conditions.
