Public Site Visit through Tuolumne Meadows on August 29, 2006.
Throughout this planning process, the National Park Service continues to make every effort to incorporate public comment and input each step of the way.
Public open houses were held throughout the initial scoping process, in towns throughout the Central Valley of California, in communities surrounding the park, and right in the heart of Tuolumne Meadows at Parsons Lodge.
After each open house, employee meeting, public site visit, and public workshop the planning team leaves with hundreds of comments, suggestions, and ideas to keep the plan on the right track.
Did You Know?
Giant sequoias are a fire adapted species. Their bark is fire resistant and fire helps open the sequoia cone and scatter the tiny seeds. Fire also clears forest debris from the mineral soil and provides a nutrient rich seed bed as well as clearing competing species.
