NPS Waives Entrance Fees on Veterans Day November 11, 2009
In 2006, the National Park Service (NPS) established a new annual fee-free day. The tradition continues on Veterans Day, November 11th, when public lands managed by both the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture will not charge entrance fees.

Wright Brothers National Memorial Volunteer Joe Hardman Celebrates 20 Years of Service
Since October 24, 1989, Joe Hardman has had a public calling to share his love of aviation history while working as a volunteer at Wright Brothers National Memorial. His passion for the Wright brothers’ story and the first flight has inspired hundreds of thousands of National Park Service visitors.

NPS Announces Fall Visitor Center/Lighthouse Hours and Program Schedule
On September 8th, the parks of the National Park Service Outer Banks Group (Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, Wright Brothers National Memorial and Cape Hatteras National Seashore) will begin a fall schedule of interpretive programs and hours of operation for the parks’ visitor centers and the Cape Hatteras National Lighthouse.

Teacher-Rangers Getting to Know Our National Parks
Six Teacher-Rangers who started work with the National Park Service Outer Banks Group last week are already in uniform and learning much about the Group’s parks; Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial. These Teacher-Rangers are participating in the National Park Service Outer Banks Group’s very first Teacher-Ranger-Teacher developmental program.

America’s Best Idea – the national parks – gets even better this summer….three “fee-free” weekends! The National Park Service will offer three “fee-free” weekends this summer to encourage Americans seeking affordable vacations to visit their national treasures. On Saturday and Sunday, June 20-21, 2009 entrance fees for Wright Brothers National Memorial will be waived for park visitors.

National Park Service Summer 2009 Programs To Start
National Park Service summer programming at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, Wright Brothers National Memorial, and Cape Hatteras National Seashore will start on Friday, May 22, 2009. A wide variety of programs will be offered daily through Labor Day. Also on May 22, the visitor centers at those three parks will begin summer hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
