Ranger Guided Tour of the Wesleyan Chapel

We are busy planning living history programs, walking tours, and illustrated programs to celebrate the 161st Anniversary of the Seneca Falls 1848 Woman's Rights Convention.

The anniversary events will take place on Saturday, July 18, Sunday, July 19, and Monday, July 20, 2009.

Dave Ruch

Saturday, July 18

9:30 a.m. Musical performance with Dave Ruch. Ruch, a folk singer from Buffalo, New York, will perform and teach songs from the 1840s and 50s.

Dick Crozier

10:30 a.m. Living History performance with Dick Crozier as a Free Soil politician. The Free Soil party was popular in the 1840s as a national anti-slavery political party. In 1848 Free Soil supporters organized a rally in Seneca Falls and met in the Wesleyan Chapel.

11:30 a.m. Ranger Guided Walking Tour. Park Ranger John Stoudt will take you "In the Footsteps of Elizabeth Cady Stanton" and explore the 1848 Village of Seneca Falls. Will last about one hour and cover about one mile.

Phrenologist Paul Kuhn performs an exam.

1:30 p.m. Living History performance with Paul Kuhn as a phrenologist. Phrenology is the study of bumps and crevices of the head as a determination of personality and intelligence. After the performance Kuhn will be conducting phrenological exams for the public. Elizabeth Cady Stanton had her head read, come and get your head read too!

Eleanor Stearns as Lucretia Mott

3:00 p.m. Living History performance with Eleanor Stearns as Lucretia Mott. Mott was an organizer of the Seneca Falls First Woman's Rights Convention and tireless human rights advocate. She was guided by her religious convictions as a Quaker to work for the good of all.
