Airports are located in Walla Walla (11 miles east of park), Pasco (45 miles west), and Pendleton, Oregon (45 miles south).

Driving directions from Walla:

  • Turn west onto Highway 12
  • 7 miles west of Walla Walla, turn left (south) onto Swegle Road (look for brown park signs)
  • Go over railroad tracks and then a bridge (less than 1/2 mile)
  • Turn left onto park entrance road, which is immediately after bridge
  • Road ends in circular parking area in front of the Visitor Center
 
Oregon Trail Wagon  

Did You Know?
Wagons used on the Oregon Trail had to carry nearly 2000 pounds of supplies. They traveled 2000 miles or more to the Oregon Country. Most wagons were pulled by oxen as they could eat the prairie grass and survive without lots of food for lengthy periods.
