The Maryland State Memorial is located outside of Vicksburg National Military Park on former park property in the City of Vicksburg. It is situated on south Confederate Avenue approximately 0.2 miles south of the Mulvihill Street intersection. The memorial consists of a bronze tablet mounted on a granite pedestal, commemorating the 3d Maryland Battery under the command of Ferdinand O. Claiborne.

The memorial was dedicated in March 1914.

Vicksburg National Military Park was established by an act of Congress on February 21, 1899. The Veterans who fought in the Vicksburg campaign worked tirelessly to see the park was created.
