Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site
For Teachers

Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site is actively involved with educating students in the New Hampshire and Vermont region about the historic and cultural elements associated with the art work of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and the architecture and gardens of his home and studios. The site offers many chances for students of all ages to learn more about the classical design elements used in Saint-Gaudens' home and gardens, his many sculptures related to the Civil War, and his use of clay, plaster, marble, and bronze in creating his most famous masterpieces.

The "For Teachers" page is currently under construction, but the park will soon have more information concerning school group tours, teacher workshops, and curriculum materials available. The park is sorry for the inconvenience.

Saint-Gaudens' home as it appeared in 1885 when he first saw it.

Did You Know?
Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ home was actually built in 1817 as an Inn. A large ball room once occupied half of the second floor. When Augustus first saw the house in 1885, he thought it dreary and forlorn.
