Russell Cave National Monument would like to invite everyone to our annual...

Native American Festival

May 3-4, 2008.

The festival will be open from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM both days. Admission is free. Food vendors will be available both days or bring your own picnic lunch.

Activities include:

  • Archery
  • Pottery
  • Flintknapping
  • Basketry
  • Hide Tanning
  • Spear Throwing
  • Wood Carving
  • Flute Music

Programs include:

  • Trail of Tears Presentation
  • Trace your Genealogy
  • Guided Nature Walk
  • Native Dance
  • Birds of Prey
  • Artifact Identification
  • Snake Program
  • Wildlife Program

We will also have several hands-on children's activities available compliments of the park.


 

SPECIAL USE PERMITS

Special Use Permits are required for special events in the park (such as weddings and baptisms). Click on the above link to download the form.

Did You Know?
Most of the pottery found at Russell Cave is less than 2500 years old. Some pottery types lasted for hundreds of years while others were only used a few years. The last pottery used in the Cave was broken around A.D. 1500 to 1650.
