Russell Cave is a great place for a grade level or subject area field trip. 

Students will visit the museum area, the actual cave shelter, view videos discussing prehistoric lifeways, and view demonstrations of prehistoric tools and weapons.

Students will gain insight into the impact of the various inhabitations and excavations of the Russell Cave area and then be able to:

1. Contrast and compare the natural and manmade events at Russell Cave using a historical timeline.

2. Explain the impact and interactions of the inhabitants of the area beginning at AD 7000 until present.

3. Discuss the lifeways and tools and weapons of prehistoric inhabitants of the area.

4. Demonstrate use of prehistoric tools and weapons and lifeways.
