Pu`uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park
For Kids

Watch green sea turtles basking in the sunshine.  Have fun guessing the height of the great wall or ki'i (wooden statues).  Play a game of konane together overlooking Keone'ele cove.  Explore along the backcountry trails or see what cool critters you might find in the tidepools by the picnic area. Ask at the front desk about the park junior ranger program. Kids will enjoy by learning about the cultural and natural resources of our park.

Did You Know?
Did you know that Kamehameha I died in 1819? Soon after his death, the kapu system and old religions of Hawai'i were discontinued. The sanctuary at Pu'uhonua o Honaunau was one of the few of the old religious sites that endured.
