Fishing

Recreational fishing is permitted in the park. All fishing must be in compliance with Hawaii Department of Land & Natural Resources regulations including open fishing seasons, catch sizes, net type and sizes, and bag limits. Bow and arrow fishing, loaded spear guns and commercial fishing are not permitted in the park.

Did You Know?
Did you know that the ki'i (carved wooden images) found throughout the park are carved from the ohia tree? This tree grows in the uplands of Hawai'i and is among the first plants to colonize new lava flows.
