Limantour Beach: Sunsetting over the Point Reyes Headlands

Coastal Watershed Restoration Project Final Phase

The current path from the main parking lot to the beach at Limantour Beach will be removed and a bridge will be constructed in its place. A temporary trail will be constructed from the parking area to the beach. The Muddy Hollow Dam will also be removed. A new section of the Estero Trail is now open to the public, with its terminus at the Muddy Hollow Road. The removal of the dams will occur from August 1 through October 15, 2008.

Giacomini Wetland Restoration Project Phase II

Construction for Phase II will continue through November 30, 2008. The public is invited to a field workshop on Saturday, October 25 and to an open house event on Sunday, October 26, to celebrate the final breaching of the Giacomini Ranch levees. Check here for information on current trail closures. Information on project timing, maps, and impacts on area residents and visitors will be updated as needed.
