An Ozark Christmas, December 7th at 2:00 pm.

Christmas is a favorite time of year for many people.  The smell of freshly baked cookies, snowflakes falling softly to the ground and twinkling lights around every corner remind us of special memories of years long ago.  Ozark National Scenic Riverways is pleased to host “An Ozark Christmas,” Sunday, December 7th at 2:00 p.m.    The event will take place at park headquarters in Van Buren and will celebrate our unique Ozark heritage.  The air will be filled with laughter, joy and traditions of the past as the Van Buren 3rd grade students sing favorite Christmas songs. Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick may even show up to hand out a few candy canes. FREE.

Events planned so far for 2009 will include:

Ozark Heritage Days at Big Spring, early June. Enjoy watching the skills of yesteryear demonstrated by woodworkers, farmers, and craftsmen of all types. If you'd like to volunteer to present a traditional Ozark craft, call Bryan Culpepper at 573-323-8822.

The Haunting of the Hills at Alley Spring, will be held the second weekend of October 2009. Enjoy traditional Ozark crafts, music and storytelling at our annual harvest season event. If you'd like to volunteer to present a traditional Ozark skill or perform, call Dena Matteson at 573-226-3945.
