Natchez Trace Parkway
For Teachers

The Natchez Trace Parkway currently offers formal curriculum-based programs for kindergarten and second grade classes that would like to schedule a filed trip to the Parkway. As the Parkway develops other curriculum-based programs for additional grades, we will gladly work with teachers to deliver a program on your choice of Parkway related subjects.

Teachers that would like to work with Parkway’s interpretation and education staff on the development of future grade specific curriculum-based programs my contact the interpretation and education division here or by phone at 1-800-305-7417 or 662-680-4027.

The Natchez Trace Parkway’s formal, curriculum-based educational program matches state and national education objectives with Parkway resources. The contents of curriculum-based programs are relevant to the resources of the Parkway and the impacts endangering those resources, and conservation or preservation issues relevant to the Parkway. Parkway curriculum-based programs are:

• Relevant to parkway resources and interpretive themes;

• Enhance school curricula;

• Involve school teachers in planning and development of unit content and activities;

• Include pre- and post-visit materials or activities; and

• Have methods and criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the program.

To have teacher packets mailed to you, call 1-800-305-7417 or 662-680-4027.
