Birding has always been a good reason to come to Anacostia Park and the Aquatic Gardens. The park manages habitat for ground nesting, aquatic, and woodland birds. We welcome volunteers to lead birdwalks. Contact the park at (202) 426-6905 to volunteer.

Click to download an Excel document (60 KB) of our bird list compiled by volunteer Jordan Rutter.

Did You Know?
The land upon which the FDR Memorial rests is reclaimed land, and at one time used to be the Potomac River. In the late 1800’s, the River was deepened and narrowed, and all this soil became East and West Potomac Parks.
