Cover of the 2003 Long Range Interpretive Plan

Long Range Interpretive Plan 2003 Anza Trail staff, volunteers, and partners contributed to the development of this plan as a guide for interpretive services and products along the trail between 2003-2015.

Annual Interpretive Plans (AIP - formerly known as Annual Implementation Plans) are developed each Fiscal Year from the Long Range Interpretive Plan and additional input from evolving programs and community conditions along the trail. These planning documents guide the Interpretive activities and projects for the Anza Trail each year. To view the current AIP and previous accomplishments based on prior AIPs, see the list below.

18th century Spanish military captain Juan Bautista de Anza, who made the Anza Trail, was called 'Anza' when alive. About 100 years ago, someone mistakenly started calling him 'De' Anza. Use of the incorrect 'De Anza' name is rampant across the southwest on schools, parks, streets, and businesses.
