			Did You Know? Albert Gallatin was the first man removed from the U.S. Senate. In 1793 Gallatin’s political foes claimed he was not a U.S. citizen for the required nine years. Gallatin had been in America since 1780, but swore an oath of allegiance in 1785. He was disqualified by a Senate vote along party lines.
