Teachers attending training workshop

Teachers become the students during our Teacher Workshop weekends.

TEACHER WORKSHOPS

To help prepare teachers for our programs, we offer two workshops in the fall. The workshops cover pre- and post-visit activities and a walk-through of the programs. The cost of registration for the workshop is $50.00 per person. Two nights of lodging are provided and the park entrance fee is waived for workshop participants. Teachers receive a letter confirming they have completed 14 hours of training.  Although attendance at a workshop is not required to bring your students to Grand Canyon on a field trip, we strongly recommend participating as your students will benefit from your increased knowledge and preparedness.

Fall 2009 Workshop Series dates:

October 23-25, 2009
November 6-8, 2009

Fall 2010 Teacher Workshop dates will be announced in Summer 2010, but are usually in late October and early November.

GRAND CANYON'S DESERT VIEW WATCHTOWER

Did You Know?
Building a structure that provides the widest possible view of the Grand Canyon yet harmonizes with its setting was architect Mary Colter's goal when the Santa Fe Railroad hired her in 1930 to design a gift shop and rest area at Desert View Point. The Watchtower opened in May of 1933.
