Alcatraz Island

The Cell House Tour is available in American Sign Language on a hand held device. Please indicate to a Cell House staff member that you need the American Sign Language hand held device. A written transcript of the Cell House Audio Tour is also available upon request. In addition, the Alcatraz Cruises safety video, played on the trip to Alcatraz Island, features an embedded American Sign Language interpreter. The Alcatraz Island Dock Orientation is also available in American Sign Language.

Assistive Listening Devices

To amplify voice and improve understanding during park programs, personal assistive listening devices are available throughout the recreation area. For information on where to find an asssisted listening device, please refer to the site below.


 

Alcatraz Island

Assistive Listening Devices are available at Pier 33 for use on Alcatraz Island. Please request an assisted listening device at the ticket booth when you pick up your tickets at Pier 33 prior to your arrival on the island. You will be outfitted with a receiver at the booth and may ask question regarding its use.

Note: The Pier 33 announcement, boat announcements, Alcatraz dock announcement, and the intro video "Stories From The Rock" are all on channel 3. But you will have to change the tactile knob to other channels for Park Ranger and docent led tours.

Muir Woods National Monument

The Muir Woods Assistive Listening Program is currently available at the visitor center at Muir Woods. If you are planning on taking a Park Ranger or docent lead tour and require assistive listening, please ask a Ranger or Parks Conservancy docent at the visitor center to provide you with a receiver.

Fort Point National Historic Site

Assistive Listening Devices are available at Fort Point. Please ask a Ranger for assistance. The devices are available for all Ranger Led Tours, the videos shown in the theater and the Golden Gate Bridge Exhibit.
