The directed the secretary of the Department of the Interior, acting through the National Park Service (NPS), to immediately evaluate the feasibility of additional bridge length, beyond that to be constructed pursuant to the Modified Water Deliveries Project. The purpose of the modifications would be to restore more natural water flow to Everglades National Park and Florida Bay and restore habitat in the park and the ecological connectivity between the park and the Water Conservation Areas.
Congress further stipulated that the feasibility study be delivered no later than 12 months from the enactment of the Act. Over the next few months, the National Park Service, in cooperation with governmental partners, will be working aggressively to meet this expectation. It is hoped all stakeholders will remain actively engaged and involved as the project develops.
