Devils Postpile National Monument
Things To Do

Anglers in the San Joaquin River
NPS
Anglers of all abilities will enjoy the clear waters of the San Joaquin. Use caution in early summer, as the river runs very fast.

Devils Postpile offers a wide range of things to do in all seasons. Summer months offer wildflower and wildlife viewing, hiking, and fishing. Fall brings changing colors and fewer visitors, offering an opportunity for solitude. Although the monument is closed in the winter and spring months, annual snowfall of over 400 inches provided a winter recreation paradise for determined visitors who venture into the valley. For more information, see Outdoor Activities.
