Denali National Park and Preserve
Backcountry - Parking
If you have a personal vehicle:
  • Vehicles left unattended overnight / multiple nights must be left in the Riley Creek Campground overflow parking lot, located one-half mile (1 km) from the Backcountry Information Center.

  • Leave your car there and catch the camper bus or Savage River Shuttle at the Riley Creek Bus Stop, which is adjacent to the overflow parking lot.

  • If you are taking your vehicle into the park for a stay in Teklanika Campground or Savage River Campground before your backcountry trip, you must drive back to the park entrance and then obtain your backcountry permit, plan your trip, and purchase a camper bus ticket. Vehicles may not be left in any campground unattended overnight.
