Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Operating Hours & Seasons

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is open every day. Some areas close at dusk. The remaining areas are open 24 hours. All visitor centers are closed, Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1.


Visitor Centers:
These park facilities are a good place to start your visit at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Meet park staff, get questions answered, and learn more about park scheduled events and places to visit. You can pick up relevant brochures, maps, and passport stamps at all visitor centers. Purchase park-themed merchandise and America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Passes at both Canal Visitor Center and Boston Store Visitor Center.

Boston Store Visitor Center
1548 Boston Mills Road, east of Riverview Road, Peninsula.
The exhibits tell the story of canal-boat building in the valley.   

Note: New days and hours starting in Winter 2009.   

  • Fall: Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Year-round: Daily, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m


Canal Visitor Center

7104 Canal Road, intersection of Canal and Hillside Roads, Valley View.
Information focuses on life along the canal and human history in the valley.

Note: New days and hours starting in Winter 2009.

  • Fall: Daily, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Winter: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Spring: Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Summer: Daily, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Frazee House
7733 Canal Road, 4 miles south of Rockside Road, Valley View.
This house features exhibits relating to architectural styles, construction techniques, and the Frazee family.

  • Closed for stabilization repairs until further notice.


Hunt Farm Visitor Information Center

2054 Bolanz Road, between Riverview and Akron Peninsula Roads, Peninsula 
The exhibits highlight agricultural history and recreational opportunities in the valley.

  • Fall: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Winter: Closed
  • Spring: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Summer: Daily, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

NPS Park Headquarters
15610 Vaughn Road, intersection of Vaughn and  Riverview Roads, Brecksville
Visitors' desk is not staffed. Brochures are available on a self-serve basis.

  • Year-round: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.


Peninsula Depot Visitor Center
1630 Mill Street, off Akron Peninsula Road, north of SR 303, Peninsula.
This is an information and orientation facility developed to help visitors explore CVNP, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, the Village of Peninsula, and the Ohio & Erie Canalway.      

  • Fall: Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. (September and October); Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (November)
  • Winter: Saturdays and Sundays, December 5 to 13 and January 9 to February 28, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. This visitor center is closed December 14 through January 8.
  • Spring: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
  • Summer: Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Wednesday through Sunday,
    9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
                   

Winter Sports Center at Kendall Lake
1000 Truxell Road, 2 miles west of Akron Cleveland Road, Peninsula.
This facility offers the rental of winter equipment, as well as ski and snowshoe instruction.   

The center will only be open on the following winter dates when there is at least 4 inches of snow. It may be open additional days during heavy snowfall.

  • Saturdays and Sundays, December 5 through December 20, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.    
  • Daily, December 27 through 31, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.    
  • Saturdays and Sundays, January 2 through February 28, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.    
  • Holidays of January 18 (Martin Luther King Day) and February 15 (Presidents’ Day), 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.    


Special Events Site:

Happy Days Lodge, 500 West Streetsboro Road (SR 303), Peninsula.
This is a special events site only.The facility is available for rentals, concerts, lectures, and special activities. For reservations, call (330) 657-2909 ext. 119.

Did You Know?
A young James A. Garfield, 20th President of the United States, worked briefly as a mule boy on the Ohio & Erie Canal, an important cultural resource within Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
