Carlsbad Caverns National Park
News

The National Park Service makes every effort to keep the public informed about news events, accomplishments, employee recognitions, special and re-occurring events which occur within and around the units of the Park Service.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park co-publishes two park newspapers each year—one for the busy summer season and one for the rest of the year—with Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

In addition to providing local and regional media with press releases, the park also posts current and past news releases on its website.

In 2003, a park employee found a piece of a stone scraper within view of Carlsbad Cavern's entrance that goes back to Ice Age Indian hunters. In 2004, archeologists found fragments of two spear points of the Midland-style Paleo Indian projectile points of some 10,000 years ago.
