| Special Event: The Island in the Sky district will offer a ranger guided hike on Saturday, June 6. On this 2 hour, 1.5 mile hike, visitors will see Ancestral Puebloan granaries and learn how similar their lives were to our lives today. Hikes depart from the Aztec Butte trailhead at 11am and 4pm. Rangers present a variety of interpretive programs March through October at the Island in the Sky and Needles districts. Schedules and times vary so please check visitor center and campground bulletin boards for current listings.
| General Schedule: The Needles district offers evening programs at the Squaw Flat Campground most nights of the week. Programs begin at 7:30pm and last about one hour. The Island in the Sky district offers up to four programs daily, including geology presentations at Grand View Point at 10:30 & 11:30am and talks at the Visitor Center at 10:30am & 1:30pm. Rangers at overlooks & trails throughout the day are also happy to explain Canyonlands' many features. The Maze district offers guided walks of Horseshoe Canyon Saturday & Sunday mornings in spring and fall. Walks will resume in Fall 2009. |
