Description: Rustic Cabin, approximately 16' X 20'
Facilities: Sleeps up to 4 people. Includes two standard twin-size wooden bunks, a work counter, table with 4 chairs, couch, diesel oil stove (fuel is provided), fire extinguisher, informational bulletin board, and smoke detector. Pit toilet with boardwalk handicap access. Fresh water is available nearby but must be treated. Not included: Running water, electricity, mattress or bedding, cooking utensils.
Location: Cabin is located on Port Graham Corporation land on a five acre site easement on the upper end of Aialik Bay (a 4.5 hour boat ride or 30 minute flight from Seward). Refer to USGS map, Blying Sound D-8.
Terrain/Vegetation: Flat terrain, young spruce forest, alder thickets, long cobble beach. Cabin elevation is just above sea level.
Recreation: Kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Superb viewing opportunities for eagles and other birds. Ideal location for visiting both Aialik and Pedersen Glaciers and Pedersen Lagoon. The cabin is located on one of the few beaches where you can explore Aialik Bay on foot. At low tide you can walk over a mile, exploring tidepools and watching for humpback whales and other wildlife.
Wildlife: Black and brown bears, bald eagles, salmon, sea otters, sea birds, and other marine mammals.
Specific Consideration: There are numerous bugs; headnets are highly recommended during the months of July and August. Tour boats frequent the area.
Reservations: Occupancy of Aialik Bay cabin is by Special Use Permit Only ($50 per night). Reservations are first-come, first-served and accepted beginning January 2nd, for late May-Labor Day, depending on weather. To make reservations, call or write to:

Reservations can also be made in person at the Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center in Seward's Small Boat Harbor.
Due to the high demand for this cabin it is required that reservations be limited to a maximum of three nights per group within the calendar year. Individuals in the same party may not make sequential reservations in order to exceed the three-night limit. Occupancy begins and ends at noon on the assigned days. To cancel, notification is required not less than 10 days in advance of scheduled trip. No credit for cancellations of less than 10 days notice unless cabin is inaccessible due to weather. Refunds only available when reservations were made using an approved Credit Card. Cabin users must have their permit displayed in a window during entire stay.
For Your Information:
- All food and drinks must be kept secured in the cabin at all times. Black and brown bears frequent this area. Food storage violations could result in immediate termination of the cabin permit.
- Campfires are permitted only on the beach below the storm tide line.
- Tents may not be pitched around the cabin. Hikers and fishermen must stay on marked trail and site easements as shown on cabin map. Access onto or across surrounding Port Graham Corporation lands outside of the easements is prohibited without a permit. Those interested in accessing Corporation lands may obtain permits at the Seward Visitor Center, from the Aialik Bay Rangers, or by contacting Port Graham at 907/284-2212.
- There is no hunting or trapping allowed in this area.
