Temporary Closure of Anacostia Skating Pavilion

Washington, D.C.—The National Park Service, National Capital Parks-East, in the interest of public safety, is temporarily closing the Anacostia Skating Pavilion due to advancing roof failure. The aging roof is currently in the process of being redesigned, but portions of the roof have deteriorated to a point where there are concerns about public safety. Once the redesign is completed, the National Park Service intends to replace major features of the roof.

Plans are underway to provide emergency repairs and stabilization that will secure the roof until a more permanent replacement is constructed. The National Park Service is working to have the pavilion reopened by the spring of 2008. Until further notice, the Anacostia Skating Pavilion will remain closed.
